East Bay Dinner
"Trekking Along the Wakhan Corridor in Pakistan"

Join Sigrid Selle for a fantastic trip to Pakistan. Sigrid says that when it comes to trekking in the mountains, her favorite country is Pakistan. The scenery in the Northern Areas is awe-inspiring, and the people have always welcomed visitors with open arms. They were very friendly and helpful to Sigrid and her companions.
Her most recent trip to that country was in 2005, when she and her trekking companion decided to explore the area along the Wakhan Corridor, hoping to cross over one of the passes into Afghanistan - but that was not to be! A heavy snow storm intervened. Nevertheless, they enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery along the Wakhan Corridor, crossing many high passes and meeting hospitable shepherds in isolated summer pastures.
After revisiting the famous Hunza Valley, she hiked from the village of Misgar to Kilik Pass in the Pamir Range. Her six-week trip concluded with a ride to Southern Punjab to explore Uch Sharif, known for its Sufi shrines. In addition she made a short detour to Derawar Fort at the edge of the Thar Desert.
East Bay Dinners is delighted to have Sigrid Selle, this intrepid mountain climber and magnificent photographer of exotic places, with us for this wonderful adventure in Pakistan.
