Northern Alameda County Group"Peru: the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and Manu Biopreserve" - a photo presentation by Peter Chang Monday, June 16, 7 pm, at Chapter Office, 2530 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley (near Dwight and San Pablo; on AC Transit lines 72 and 9). The Northern Alameda County Group invites you to a presentation of photographs by Club member Peter Chang highlighting the diversity of Peru. Peru is known for its biologically diverse ecology, including high mountain plateaus, cloud forests, jungle, and arid lands near the coast. In 2007 Peter hiked the length of the Inca trail to Machu Picchu (the only way to see the fabled ruins there!) and then down into the headwaters of the Amazon through the Manu Biopreserve, a UNESCO-World Heritage site with an amazing variety of wildlife. Peter will show the historic city of Cuzco and will give travel tips for planning your own trip. Come and meet fellow Sierra Club members, and learn more about these fascinating places. The event is free although a $5 donation is appreciated.
