Marin Group Annual Awards Dinner

Friday, October 10, 6 pm - no-host cocktails; 7 pm - dinner, speaker, and awards; at the picturesque Spinnaker Restaurant, 100 Spinnaker Drive in Sausalito.

Please join the Marin Group for a stimulating evening of speakers and awards, with excellent food and wine, at our Annual Awards Dinner.

The Sierra Club Marin Group is delighted to welcome our keynote speaker, Mary Nichols, chair of the California Air Resources Board. Nichols has devoted her entire career to advocating for the environment and public health. In addition to her work at the Air Board, she has been assistant administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Air and Radiation program under the Clinton administration, Secretary for California's Resources Agency from 1999 to 2003, and director of the UCLA Institute of the Environment. Nichols was chosen to lead California's efforts to reduce its greenhouse gases by 25% by 2020 under an anti-global-warming law passed last year.

Soon the Group will be announcing the winners of this year's Resource Conservation Award and Hannah Creighton Environmental Justice Award, to be presented at the dinner.

Master of ceremonies will be Dick Spotswood, Independent-Journal political columnist.

Sunday, June 1, noon - 2 pm, Albert Park, San Rafael (B Street, behind baseball field).

Come meet other Sierra Club members, learn about your Club, and find out how you can get involved here with the Sierra Club Marin Group. There are plenty of opportunities, and good times too - working for conservation, going on hikes and other events, helping to bring members and the community together.

The picnic will be potluck. Drinks will be provided. Bring something or not, but bring cushions for grass.
