Delta Regional Group: "Highlights of Costa Rica"Tuesday, April 8, 7:15 pm, Antioch Library, 501 West 18th Street, Antioch. Costa Rica, between Nicaragua and Panama in tropical Central America, has a natural landscape of hot humid coastal plains on both the Pacific and Caribbean, rising steeply to central highlands, and volcanic peaks towering over 12,000 feet elevation. With such rich biodiversity, 39% of the country's landmass has been set aside for national parks and ecological preserves. Tonight's program features Delta Group member Tish Brown with a PowerPoint presentation of the highlights of her trip to Costa Rica. Enjoy photos of flora and fauna near an ecolodge in the rainforest on the Oso Peninsula, the Arenal Volcano, the mysterious Monte Verde Cloud Forest (home of the magnificent quetzal bird!) and the abundant wildlife in the Manuel Antonio National Park. Please bring your friends and neighbors and join us for an armchair trip exploring the treasures of Costa Rica's beautiful natural habitats. Before the program, we'll briefly discuss local environmental issues, and informaton about upcoming activities and events will be available. Group program meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday or Wednesday in January, March, May, September, and November. A newsletter listing Delta Group programs, outings and activities is available by sending a check for $5 payable to "Sierra Club, Delta Group" to: Tish Brown
