Envision the future of the Concord Naval Weapons Station - a workshop plus tour
Saturday, March 29, 1 - 3 pm, Willow Pass Center, 2748 East Olivera Road, Concord.
See for yourself how and where the redevelopment of the Concord Naval Weapons Station will occur - and find out how you can make sure this
development is done well!
At eight square miles, the weapons station is the largest undeveloped and unprotected area in Contra Costa County. The Sierra Club, working with Greenbelt
Alliance and the Community Coalition for a Sustainable Concord, are pushing to preserve 80% of the base as open space, and create a compact and vibrant new
community around the BART station.
At the event we'll hear from experts on parks and open space, native plants, wildlife, and smart growth about the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity we have to shape
the base's future. Then we'll go out on a tour for a first-hand look at where development could occur and at the environmentally sensitive areas that critically
need protection.
Join us to learn about the site, the process to develop it, key dates and events, and how to make your voice heard. This event will be sponsored by Greenbelt
Alliance and co-sponsored by the Sierra Club Bay Chapter and the Mount Diablo Group.
