Sierra Club Snowcamping - Alumni Trips

Saturday, January 12 - Orientation Day.

Sign up now for the Snowcamping Section's 2008 Alumni Trips. Open to graduates of the popular Snowcamping Training Series, these diverse, fun trips are a perfect way to make the most of your winter weekends. This year, trips range from exploring Yosemite and Mokelumne wilderness areas to theme trips such as `Winter Ecology', `Igloo 101', or `Try it on Skis'. Ever looked longingly at the train tracks while stuck on traffic on I- 80 with bored kids? Why not try our Joint Alumni-Family Group Cold Canyon Train Trip? Take Amtrak from the Bay Area to Truckee, and then spend two nights snowcamping in Cold Canyon before the return train trip.

Participant numbers for each trip are limited; sign up fast. All participants must attend the morning portion of Orientation Day on Sat., Jan. 12. Trip fees vary, but many are $20 ($25 for non-Sierra Club members). For application information and more details about each of the following trips, visit www.snowcamping.org and click on "Alumni Trips". Scheduled Alumni Trips are:

  • Winter Ecology - Jan. 19 - 21
  • Emigrant Lake (Mokelumne Wilderness Area) - February 2 - 4
  • Cold Canyon Train Trip - February 29 - March 3
  • Crocker Point - March 7 - 9
  • Glacier Point - March 15 - 18
