East Bay Dinner: "Hiking to Northern California's Most Beautiful Waterfalls"Thursday, January 24, no-host cocktails/social hour - 6:00 pm, dinner - 7:00, program - 8:00, Berkeley Yacht Club on the Berkeley Marina, one block north of the west end of University Avenue (ample free parking is available in the Marina parking lots). The most beautiful waterfalls in Northern California. Where are they? How do you get to them? Join Ann Marie Brown, hiker extraordinaire and author of California Waterfalls (and 13 other guidebooks on California wilderness and recreation!) as she takes us to them, showing us the way with superb images, beautiful slides. Whether you're headed to Big Basin, Yosemite, or beyond, you'll discover where to find easy walks, challenging day hikes or short backpacking trips that offer a big payoff - the splendor of the Golden State's most spectacular cascades. Ann Marie is a hiker and explorer extraordinaire. She has walked more than 15,000 miles of trails in California alone! In addition to her best-selling guidebooks, Ann Marie has written for Sunset, VIA and Backpacker magazines. As a way of giving back a little of what she gets from her experiences in nature, she writes and edits for several environmental groups, including the Sierra Club and Natural Resources Defense Council. When not on the trail, she can be found at her home near Yosemite National Park. For more information on Ann Marie's outdoor guidebooks, visit www.annmariebrown.com Cost of dinner and program is $23, including tax and tip. For a reservation, please send your check, payable to "Sierra Club", with your name, your telephone number, and the names of your guests, to: Evelyn Randolph
