San Francisco Dinner
"Adventuring in Australia"
Thursday, February 21, social hour 6 pm, dinner 7, show 8 - City Forest Lodge, 254 Laguna Honda Boulevard, San Francisco (across from Laguna Honda
Hospital and downhill from Forest Hill Station; take Muni's K, L, M, or
43). Come early for street parking (no sidewalk parking please).
In 2002, Bay Area natives Eric Armstrong and Sarah Baughn traveled to Australia, bought a four-wheel drive Nissan Patrol, and took off for five months to
explore Tasmania and the perimeter of this far-off continent. Eric and Sarah will share highlights of their 16,000-mile journey: hiking in spectacular wilderness, swimming
in majestic spring-fed gorges, searching for aboriginal rock art, and diving on some of the richest coral reefs in the world. They will also touch on the history of
settlement in Australia as an English penal colony and the modern-day environmental impacts of Australia's natural-resource-dependent export economy. Come experience the
true adventure of the Australian outback.
Eric and Sarah live in Berkeley. She is a freelance radio producer and full-time mom to two young boys. Eric is the director of student financial information and
director of eCommerce at Stanford University.
