Delta Group: "Bicycle Travels in Southeast Asia"
Thursday, November 29, 7:15 pm (note day change), Antioch Library, 501 West 18th Street, Antioch.
Bruce "Ole" Ohlson, Pittsburg cyclist and bicycle advocate, has shared two previous travel adventures with us - his 14,000-mile bicycle trip in Australia, and his
canoe adventures in Alaska and the Canadian Yukon. We've invited him back to hear about another bicycle excursion, through India, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, and
New Zealand - part of a challenging around-the-world bicycle adventure he survived.
Ole has worked as an adventure travel leader and a whitewater raft guide, and has through-hiked both the Appalachian and the Pacific Crest Trails. He estimates
that he has pedaled about 200,000 miles so far, in 49 U.S. states and 28 countries on five continents. He doesn't own a car, but bicycles or takes public transportation
whenever possible. A member of the Board of Directors of the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, Ole attends many meetings each month, to persuade government agencies to
install additional bike lanes, and support and provide a bicycle-friendly transit system.
Join us tonight to hear about Ole's adventures exploring the mystical lands and cultures of Southeast Asia. Before the program we'll socialize and munch goodies,
and then briefly discuss current environmental issues and upcoming events. Group program meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday or Wednesday in
January, March, May, September, and November. A newsletter listing Delta Group programs, outings, and activities is available by $5 subscription. To receive the newsletter,
