Job announcements: Chapter director, major-gift officer,
and community organizer
As part of the San Francisco Bay Chapter's multi-year plan to expand Chapter services and increase our environmental grassroots work, the San Francisco
Bay Chapter is taking applications to fill three positions.
Senior Chapter director
Manages a 20-person office and $1.5 million budget. The director:
- develops and implements all programs, policies, and initiatives for the Chapter;
- performs long-range planning, making appropriate recommendations to the Executive Committee regarding short- and long-term priorities and strategies to
develop and strengthen the effectiveness of the Chapter.
Qualified candidates must have:
- a proven track record and commitment to grassroots environmental and political organizing;
- substantial experience in major-gift fundraising and managing donor relations;
- strong communication skills with professional experience in media and public relations;
- the ability to work cooperatively with an elected Executive Committee and to manage a quickly growing office and outreach program.

Major-gift officer
Responsible for planning, managing, and implementing the Chapter's major-gift campaign. The major-gift officer establishes and maintains a personal portfolio
of individual donors who are among the Chapter's most significant prospects and supporters. This position requires direct participation in 8 - 10 visits each month
with current and prospective donors as wells as support and coordination for volunteer leaders to cultivate prospects and conduct solicitations without the major-gift
officer. Qualified candidates must have:
- professional experience working with individual donors who have made gifts of five and six figures;
- the ability to work well with chapter volunteer leaders;
- the ability to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual major gifts.

Community organizer
Help coordinate volunteer campaigns to elect local environmental leaders and pass local environmental legislation.
Knowledge and skills:
- 1 - 2 years of full-time, professional experience managing volunteer grassroots efforts;
- strong interest in environmental and grassroots politics;
- commitment to the democratic and electoral process;
- strong written and oral communication skills;
- preference for experience with grassroots fundraising.
