Northern Alameda County Regional Group potluck picnic at César Chávez ParkSunday, July 22, noon - 3 pm, at César Chávez Park, east-shore group picnic site, Berkeley. Enjoy an afternoon with local Sierra Club members. The Northern Alameda County Group is hosting a potluck picnic and nature walk. The Group will provide some barbecue fare. Please bring food and beverages to share. (Berkeley prohibits use of alcohol in its parks.) To reduce waste, bring your own reusable dishes, cups, and flatware. Bring along your wind-breaker, blanket, and games. Bring family and friends. Socialize with like-minded people, learn what the Group is up to, and take a walk around the park After lunch, Norman La Force, a longtime activist in the effort to create the Eastshore State Park, will lead us "next door" on a short hike to the newest unit of that park, the Meadows. He will also give a brief status report on the state park. By bus, take the 51 northbound to Sixth and University, transfer to the #9 westbound, and exit at the Berkeley Marina. Walk east one block, turn left, and walk north one long block. For more bus information, visit actransit.org By car, drive west on University Avenue, and turn right onto Marina Boulevard. Park across the street from the Doubletree Hotel. To RSVP, ask questions, and volunteer, contact or call (510) 848-0800, ext. 315
