Zero-emissions alert
The California Air Resources Board is revising its Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) regulations, which brought more than 5,000 emission-free electric cars, trucks,
and SUVs to California roads before the regulations were weakened in 2003. Since then, car makers have produced just 134 extremely expensive hydrogen fuel-cell
vehicles, some gasoline-dependent hybrids, and no new plug-in cars.
State regulators have the opportunity to put some teeth back into the ZEV regulations and get electric cars and plug-in hybrids on the road in the near future.
