Delta Regional Group:
"National Parks in Contra Costa County?"
Thursday, March 15, 7:15 pm, Antioch Library, 501 West 18th Street, Antioch.
Yes, the National Park Service cares for four special places in Contra Costa County that have been saved as part of
our American heritage:
- the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site in Danville;
- the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez,
- the Port Chicago Naval Magazine National Memorial near Concord; and
- the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historic Park in Richmond.
At the Delta Group general meeting, our program will be a PowerPoint presentation by a local Park Service staffmember,
telling about these four national parks. We'll hear about the natural, historic, and recreational features of these
sites, and brochures for each site will be available.
We'll also hear details about the weekend of special activities to be hosted by the John Muir National Historic Site
and the city of Martinez, planned for April 21.
Come learn more about these special sites of national heritage in our community. We'll also have time to socialize
and munch goodies, and briefly discuss our activity calendar and current environmental concerns.
Group program meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday or Wednesday in January, March, May, September and
November. A newsletter listing Delta Group programs, outings and activities is available by $5 subscription. To receive
the newsletter, send a $5 check payable to "Sierra Club, Delta Group" to:
