Kayak and canoe slalom and downriver races
Saturday - Sunday, May 5 - 6.
The Sierra Club Bay Chapter's River Touring Section will host its annual downriver and slalom races for kayaks, canoes, inflatables, small rafts, or whatever else
shows up and wants to race. The races are held on the river at the middle campground on Cache Creek, off Highway 16 west of I-505 about 10 miles west of the little town
of Rumsey.
The race is for novices and experts alike. We have all classes. All are welcome.
Here is a chance to meet others who love the water. Most folks camp right at the campground for the weekend and enjoy the people, food, campfires and stories.
The downriver race on Saturday afternoon is on a three-mile course from the confluence with Bear Creek to the lower picnic area. Most spend Saturday practicing
the slalom course. Sunday is the slalom race, beginning with a parent/child race followed by the general race. The entrance fee is $20 ($15 if you pre-register). For
