Mount Diablo Group
"Journey to the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador"
Wednesday, January 10, 7 pm, at Winslow Center, 2590 Pleasant Hill Road, Pleasant Hill (corner of Taylor Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road).
Ever since the voyage of the HMS Beagle, the wildlife of the Galapagos Islands has held a strong fascination for naturalists all over the world.
Join us at the next general meeting of the Mount Diablo Group as Al and Marie Greening lead us on a photographic journey through the Galapagos Islands and
the Ecuadorian countryside.
On his cruise to the Galapagos, Al encountered many of the species viewed by Darwin in the 19th century, including boobies, frigate birds, albatross, iguanas, sea
lions, and tortoises. Al will also share slide photographs of his visit to Quito, the Andean Highlands, and the native markets in Otavalo.
Al Greening is an award-winning photographer and world traveler. His work has been featured in many venues, including an ongoing exhibition in the
Marin Headlands visitor center of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
