"A Ramble Around the British Isles"

With a mix of Celtic, Roman, Viking, Saxon, and Norman cultural origins, the British Isles, a pair of islands about the size of Wyoming, gave rise to a world empire on which "the sun never set". Last fall Delta Group members Janess Hanson and Mary Lange visited this historic nation, and came back rich with memories. Their journey took them in a circle: from the lively cosmopolitan city of London; north to remote valleys and rustic fishing villages in the Scottish Highlands; west to politically turbulent Northern Ireland to see the Giant's Causeway, "the eighth wonder of the world"; south to the misty western coast and quaint villages of the Irish Republic; east across the Irish Sea to the mountains of Wales and the moors of Cornwall and Devon; then continuing east through southern England to explore the harbor towns of Portsmouth and Brighton, and mysterious prehistoric Stonehenge on the plains of Wiltshire.

Come to the Delta Group's general meeting for a slide presentation and narration as Janess and Mary share their enjoyment of the scenery, history, and culture to be discovered in these islands. We'll also have time to socialize and munch goodies, and review our activity calendar and current environmental concerns. In addition, we expect county Supervisor Mary Piepho to join us and speak briefly about county issues scheduled for 2007.
