Dennis Hayashi for Alameda County Superior Court judge, Seat 21
Dennis Hayashi has a lifelong commitment to public service and extensive experience and knowledge about environmental concerns.
As the leader of federal and state civil rights agencies, as a public-interest attorney, and as an elected director on the AC Transit board, Dennis has worked to
protect fundamental rights. Under President Clinton, he served as director of the Office for Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he
oversaw cases which addressed the issue of environmental justice. As director of the state Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Dennis won equal rights for
thousands of Californians. Currently, on the AC Transit Board, Dennis has been an advocate for cleaner transportation.
As an attorney, Dennis has been a legal consultant on enforcement and compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act. The Sierra Club does not
often endorse judicial candidates, but it is vital that they have familiarity with and commitment to environmental protection.
Based on his experience and his commitment to environmental protection, the Sierra Club urges voters in all of Alameda County to elect
Dennis Hayashi.
