Andy Katz for EBMUD

The Sierra Club is delighted to be endorsing Club leader Andy Katz, who is running unopposed for the Board of the East Bay Utility District in Ward 4 (Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, North Oakland).

Andy, who has just stepped down as chair of the Club's Northern Alameda County Group (he is continuing on its Executive Committee), also serves on the Club's California Legislative Committee. Professionally he is an environmental planner.

Andy is running to:

• protect our drinking-water quality;
• help restore our environment by strengthening incentives for water conservation;
• increase awareness about the impacts climate change will have on our water.

Andy is supporting increased water-conservation efforts such as rebates on water-saving appliances, tiered water pricing, and recycled water, so that they will benefit the environment through energy savings and reduced diversions from the San Francisco Bay Delta, where many species and wetlands are threatened.
