Vote Environment 2006

One big victory for the Pittsburg hills deserves another

Help build a strong re-election campaign for open-space champion Mayor Michael Kee

On Aug. 21 the Pittsburg City Council showed that it is scared.

Instead of voting to annex 768 acres of beautiful hillsides to allow developer Albert Seeno to build 1,000 houses there, the Council not only backed off from voting that night but put off the vote indefinitely. This is a tremendous victory for the numerous Pittsburg residents and neighbors who have been sending the clear message: we don't need more development on Pittsburg's undeveloped hillsides, and any development that is to be approved requires careful planning and public input.

Now the Nov. 7 election takes on new significance. Mayor Michael Kee has been a champion for Pittsburg's open space. It is essential to re-elect him and to do so by a wide margin. This is the best way for Pittsburg's citizens to show the Council that we want real protection for our hillsides. This is the way to make sure that the Council doesn't decide just after the election to give Seeno what he wants.

WhatYouCanDo

In the short time before the election, your help is invaluable (whether you live in Pittsburg or not). To volunteer in the campaign to re-elect Michael Kee and protect the Pittsburg hills, contact or call (510)848-0800, ext. 306.
