Vote Environment 2006

Elect Aimee Allison in Oakland

The Sierra Club is proud to support Aimee Allison for the Oakland City Council District 2 seat in the Nov. 7 run-off election. Aimee's campaign is a top priority, and we are encouraging Sierra Club members to get involved in her campaign.

Aimee believes that a healthy Oakland is environmentally sustainable and that urban centers like Oakland must put policies in place that will lower our demand for fossil fuels, decrease pollution, and target green industries.

Oakland city leaders are not doing enough to protect air quality, and the constant changes to city plans mean that environmental concerns have been compromised. Aimee will ensure that Oakland builds a healthy community for all its citizens and becomes a leader in environmental protection.

Aimee's solutions:

  • make Oakland a leader in the production and development of green technologies;
  • pass a strong Green Building Ordinance for public, commercial, and residential buildings;
  • foster greater community participation and input in implementing park projects, such as renovations to Lake Merritt through Measure DD;
  • make pedestrian and bike paths safer, fund improvements to public transportation, and create incentives for alternatives to driving;
  • bring Oakland up to Kyoto Treaty standards on climate change.

Aimee's campaign office is bustling with activity. To volunteer, contact or call (510) 848-0800, ext. 304
