Dan Sullivan receives Colby Award
Dan Sullivan is this year's recipient of the Sierra Club's William E. Colby Award.
The Colby Award honors an individual for outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to the Sierra Club. It acknowledges primarily service within the Sierra
Club's organizational structure but may include conservation achievements.
Over the past 30 years Dan's specialty has been organizational structure, with minors in politics and water policy. He takes on vital (and often immense) tasks that
other leaders find daunting, and does them so smoothly and calmly that we tend to forget that it's only because of Dan's efforts that the organization is functioning well.
He's played vital roles in setting up structures for
Sierra Club California, the Sierra Club's California Conservation Committee, and the Club's national political
program. He's served the Bay Chapter as conservation chair and on its Water, Office, Legal, Finance, and Political Committees. He is often remembered fondly for
his mentoring role for new volunteers.
