Brad and Katy Christie honored with Michener Award
This year the Bay Chapter Activities Committee gives its Dave and Pat Michener Award for outstanding outings leadership to Brad and Katy Christie.
Katy and Brad's car-camping trips are legendary: their enthusiasm and outdoor skills have brought countless people into the most beautiful wild areas of
California, Colorado, and beyond. They try to plan hikes that most people haven't done before, and the communal happy hours, dinners, and evenings around the campfire
have earned them a group of dedicated fans over the years.
When they aren't scouting out another trip, they are leading day hikes in the Bay Area.
The Yodeler carried a longer article about Brad and Katy in the November-December 2004 issue, when they received the Club's national
Oliver Kehrlein Award. Their trips are regularly listed in the Chapter calendar, starting on page A of each Yodeler and available on the
web at www.sfbaysc.org (click at left on "Calendar").
The Activities Committee established the Michener Award in 2001 to commemorate the many years of volunteer service performed by Dave and Pat Michener,
co-editors of the Chapter Schedule.
