"Save the Clair Tappaan Experience" Weekend
Friday - Sunday, August 11 - 13, Clair Tappaan Lodge.
The Sierra Club's Clair Tappaan Lodge, nestled near Donner Summit in Norden, CA, invites you to its second annual "Save the Clair Tappaan Experience" fundraiser.
This fundraiser will help support the lodge and assure its long-range future. The event-packed weekend will feature choices of hikes including bird-watching,
wild flowers, local history, geology, and a ramble by moonlight. There will be movies, mountain-bike rides, a wine-and-cheese reception with a silent auction, a slide show
on Clair Tappaan Lodge history, a sharing of adventures around the campfire, and a barbecue.
There will be a variety of arrangements available for the weekend: two-night stay, one-night stay, and day only. The bulk of the fees will go to support the lodge.
The Lodge is a base for year-round recreation, and offers a variety of programs that support sustainable practices and the Sierra Club's mission to "explore, enjoy,
and protect the wild places of the Earth." In winter you can crosscountry-ski right out the back door or downhill-ski at nearby resorts.
The Lodge, its nearby backcountry huts, the beautiful surrounding mountains, and the warm, friendly ambiance of the Lodge embody the spirit of the Sierra Club:
care for the environment, love of the outdoors, and outdoor recreation. People who share the same values meet and make new friends around the fireplace. CTL is often
the first place where people are introduced to the Sierra Club. You get all this and three great meals a day for a very reasonable price. The cost is low so that families can
bring their children and teach them to love the outdoors.
