Yee for State SenateFor the state Senate seat being vacated by Jackie Speier (SD 8 - eastern San Francisco, San Mateo), Dr. Leland Yee is the candidate with the best environmental record. Dr. Yee has served since 2003 in the State Assembly, since 2004 as speaker pro tem. He previously sat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and School Board. Assemblymember Yee has an outstanding record of supporting environmental legislation in the Assembly. On the Sierra Club California Legislative Report Card for 2005, he received a 100% rating. "Assemblymember Leland Yee has been a steadfast advocate for protecting and restoring California's air, water, and land, and is a leader in protecting our magnificent coast, helping to rebuff the federal administration's and the oil companies' push to drill for oil and gas off our shores," said Bill Allayaud, state director for Sierra Club California. Dr. Yee has distinguished himself also for his skill as a legislator. GamePolitics.com named him its 2005 Person of the Year, praising his "deft touch and political savvy" in guiding his video-game legislation through the legislature.
