Mary Hayashi for Assembly District 18
Public advocacy has been the focus of Mary Hayashi's life.
Mary has won numerous awards for her long-time leadership for public health and mental-health
care, including the 2004 National Advocacy Award and the New York University Medical Leadership
Award, among others. Mary is keenly aware of the connection between a healthy environment and
the health of our communities.
Mary has actively reached out to the Sierra Club Southern Alameda County Group to discuss
environmental issues. She is committed to using her experience in advocacy to work with the
Sierra Club to reach our environmental goals. She is intelligent, open, honest, and energetic,
and learns quickly. She possesses a strong desire for information that will help in her work to
restore and preserve the healthy ecosystems that the planet and our communities depend upon.
Mary will be accessible to the Club on both local and state issues. She has exceptionally
strong community support and a long list of individual and organizational endorsements including
the California League of Conservation Voters, the California Nurses Association, the United
Farmworkers, and many organizations focusing
on health, public safety, and transit.
The Sierra Club looks forward to working with Mary.
