Elections coming for Executive Committees
Volunteer to be a candidate or to serve on Nominations and Elections Committee
In November the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club will hold elections for its Chapter and each of its eight group Executive Committees (ExComms). We
need volunteers now - for candidates and for members of the Nominations and
Elections Committee that oversees the elections.
ExComms
The Chapter ExComm oversees the Chapter's annual budget, 20 full-time and part-time staff, many hundreds of volunteers, and this newspaper. ExComm
members organize and take an active part in fundraising. Every ExComm member is expected to be actively involved in some aspect of the Chapter's operations, putting
in substantial time between meetings.
Group ExComm members organize meetings and activities for hundreds or thousands of members.
ExComm members at either level must attend regular meetings, help decide responses to critical environmental issues, and take active part in making the Chapter
or group function.
Nominations/Elections Committee
The Nominations and Elections Committee contacts Chapter leaders to recruit candidates for ExComms, and oversees the election process, including publication
of the ballot with the November-December Yodeler and the counting of the ballots.
To volunteer
To serve on the Nominations and Elections Committee, to be a candidate for the Chapter or a
group Executive Committee, or to nominate someone who would make a good ExComm member (for
either the Chapter or a group), contact Nominations and Elections Committee chair Arthur R.
Boone at election -at- sfbaysc.org or (510) 910-6451. The deadlines for nominations and
for candidate petitions have not yet been set, but will be in August.
Candidates must be members in good standing of the Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter.
