Help gather signatures in Albany and Fremont
The Bay Chapter is now collecting signatures for two important ballot measures. Please help
in gathering signatures in either city.
Your help needed now for Albany Shoreline Initiative
The Albany Shoreline Protection Initiative is moving forward. We're well on the way towards
collecting the necessary signatures to place it on the November 2006 ballot.
The initiative will protect a full 600 feet of open space along the shoreline. It also sets
goals of restoring wetlands and creeks, expanding the dunes at the Albany Beach, and providing
sports fields.
The initiative sets up a comprehensive planning process for the entire Albany shoreline so
that the city doesn't just respond to development proposals for little pieces. It requires that
development must be of a size and nature not to undermine Albany's Solano Avenue merchants, but
it will allow enough development to replace the revenue that Albany now gets from the race track.
Help us gather the signatures. To volunteer in this campaign - one of the key priorities of
the East Bay Public Lands Committee - contact Dan Hernandez at (510) 848-0800, ext. 312, or by
