Mount Diablo Group
"Legacy of the Visionaries: A Tribute to East Bay Open Space Pioneers"
Wednesday, November 9, 7 pm, Winslow Center, 2590 Pleasant Hill Road, Pleasant Hill (corner of Taylor Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road).
If you've ever explored with delight the trails of the East Bay Regional Parks, marveled from overlooks on Mount Diablo at the unobstructed sweep of hills and
valleys, or walked by the Bay and been thrilled by flocks of shorebirds, you'll want to join us at the next general meeting of the Mount Diablo Group. Our guest speaker,
Cindy Spring, will present a PowerPoint program featuring stunning nature photographs, including those of the late Bob Walker. Cindy will describe the pioneering efforts
of the individuals and organizations who worked to preserve an East Bay where humans and nature thrive together.
Cindy Spring is an environmental activist and a writer. She is co-founder of an environmental awareness program called Close to Home: Exploring Nature's
Treasures in the East Bay. She served as coordinator of Earth Day 2000 for the Bay Area. Cindy also participates in several Bay Area environmental organizations and
writes columns for Bay Nature and
EarthLight magazines. She has co-authored two books with her husband, Charles Garfield.
