"Arctic Explorations" - a wilderness slide show

Tuesday, November 15 - Wilderness Committee meeting begins at 7 pm; presentation at 8 - in Yosemite Room at Sierra Club Headquarters, 85 Second Street (near Mission Street), San Francisco (near Montgomery BART/Muni station).

At the next meeting of the Chapter Wilderness Committee, explorer Dennis Schmitt will present a slide show of his Arctic adventures, including two voyages to Greenland and two expeditions in Alaska's Brooks Range. Highlights will include a look at the southern rim of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska in the DeLong Mountains and the discovery of a new island in East Greenland. In recent years Dennis has led numerous Sierra Club outings to Alaska and now leads for OceanWide Expeditions.

Vicky Hoover will also summarize conservation issues relating to the western Arctic.
