Volunteer training series continues

Learn new skills for protecting the environment

The Sierra Club Bay Chapter's first volunteer-training event, Grassroots Organizing 101, was a great success, with more than 25 people turning out to learn the basics of grassroots campaigning. The training, which introduces new volunteers to the skills, strategies, and inspiration for grassroots work, will repeat in August and November in San Francisco, and in September in Livermore.

On Thu., Sep. 15, Chapter staff will offer an intermediate training for folks who have completed the 101 class or who have volunteered for the Sierra Club before. Grassroots Organizing 201 will address grassroots leadership skills and the ways that volunteers can step up their involvement in campaigns that they care about. Topics will include campaign messages, planning the progress of an issue campaign, and successful actions. The training will also help volunteers plug into local environmental-issue campaigns.

In October we will offer a practicum: volunteers will come into the Chapter for a quick training and a couple hours of "practice" on the phones for an election campaign.
