The West Contra Costa County Group plans to meet in Richmond in either May or June. We encourage members and residents living in the area to attend and provide input on issues affecting this area.

April, and the other month of May or June, our Executive Committee meeting will be at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 545 Ashbury, in El Cerrito.

These meetings are open to all. Come to learn about the Group's conservation issues and administration, or to volunteer your time and talents.

In 2005, besides monthly ExComm meetings (to which you are invited), the Group plans to have three or four general meetings. We need to know what kinds of programs you are interested in and would come to. What topics turn you on? What kinds of presentations and presenters do you prefer? Can you suggest some topics and/or potential presenters? Let us know at (510)528-2913 or http://sanfranciscobay.sierraclub.org/westcc

Happenings in West Contra Costa

In late March the Lytton Band of Ohlone Indians, which had been planning to install 2,500 slot machines in its Casino San Pablo, changed its plans, at least temporarily, due to opposition to the required compact in the legislature. Instead, the tribe announced plans to install automated bingo games, which resemble slots but require no compact. The tribe says that it plans to pursue slots in the future. Stay tuned.
