Help select delegates to Sierra Summit

Monday, May 9, 5:30 pm, Sierra Club National Office, 85 Second Street, Yosemite Room, third floor (this meeting will immediately precede the Chapter Executive Committee meeting).

Do you want to become a delegate to the Sierra Summit, being held in San Francisco Sep. 8 - 11, or to help select the Bay Chapter's delegates? This national convention will bring members and activists together, from across the country, to discuss and decide upon future directions for the Sierra Club. Delegates will represent the Bay Chapter in the Club's priority-setting process as active participants in the deliberations and votes about these issues. Delegates will also attend many presentations and informational panels being conducted over the event period.

To be one of the Bay Chapter's delegates, come to the Chapter's special delegate-selection meeting. This is your chance to nominate and vote for yourself or for other at-large delegates! This special meeting is open to all current Sierra Club Bay Chapter members. All members present are eligible to vote for at-large Summit delegates. To be nominated for a position (by yourself or someone else), you must be a Bay Chapter Sierra Club member.

The Bay Chapter delegation will be composed of the following delegates:

• one Council of Club Leaders delegate (elected by the Chapter ExComm or membership);
• one senior volunteer leader appointed by the Chapter ExComm;
• one outings leader appointed by the Chapter ExComm;
• one activist under the age of 30 appointed by the Chapter ExComm;
• one delegate for each of the Chapter's eight groups, appointed by the group ExComm;
• eight at-large Summit delegates, to be elected at the special meeting.

Each delegate is responsible for the $100 delegate registration fee and any other accommodation/convention expenses. In circumstances of economic hardship, however, the Chapter may be able to provide monetary aid for delegate fees.
