Group business

The Group intends to focus on key issues concerning West Contra Costa County. These include saving Breuner Marsh from development, saving Point Molate as a park and open-space resource, protecting our remaining open space in Hercules and other areas, responding to the proposal for three and possibly four large urban casinos, and promoting environmental justice.

The Group Executive Committee meets every fourth Wednesday of the month. Most often we meet at 7:30 pm at the Northminster Church at 645 Ashbury in El Cerrito, across the street from El Cerrito High School, but please confirm time and place before coming, because we plan to schedule meetings in each of the communities where we have members.

The Group Executive Committee selected its officers for 2005 at its January meeting:

  • chair: Norman La Force
  • vice chair: Rita Minjares
  • treasurer: Grant Bennett
  • secretary: David McCoard
  • representative on Chapter Executive Committee: Rita Minjares
  • alternate representative on Chapter Executive Committee: Steve Kirby
  • representative on Chapter Conservation Committee: David McCoard
