EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Richmond Shore Festival

Saturday, October 9, 10 am - noon: nature walks, birding, and activities for kids; noon - 2 pm: free barbeque, bands, and speakers; at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline.

Richmond's 33 miles of bay frontage make that city's shoreline one of the most spectacular on the entire San Francisco Bay. While attention is focused on proposals to build a casino (see article) and high-rise apartments along that beautiful shoreline, let's not forget to take pleasure in the miles already set aside for public benefit.

On Sat., Oct. 9, join with the Sierra Club, along with Save San Francisco Bay, the Parchester Village Neighborhood Association, the West County Toxics Coalition, the East Bay Watershed Center, and others at the Richmond Shoreline Festival.

If you're already interested in shoreline protection, this event will be a great opportunity to learn more about current issues. If you're an infrequent visitor to the beach, this event will showcase what all the hubbub is about.

For more information or to volunteer to help with event logistics (much help still needed!) please call Jonna Papaefthimiou at (510) 848-0800, ext. 312 or email jonna -at- sfbaysc.org
