Energy CommitteeMeet Jared Blumenfeld, San Francisco's environment directorWednesday, July 28, 7 (sharp) - 8 pm, Yosemite Room, Sierra Club National Headquarters, 85 Second Street (at Mission; two blocks from Montgomery BART), San Francisco.Jared Blumenfeld, who has served as director of San Francisco's Department of the Environment since 2001, will address the Chapter's Energy Committee at its July meeting. Mr. Blumenfeld will discuss the Department's various programs aimed at promoting renewable energy, conservation, and clean air in San Francisco. Now the department will work with the Public Utilities Commission to develop an implementation plan for Community Choice Aggregation, which will free San Francisco residents from PG&E's electricity monopoly (see article). Other department programs include acquiring cleaner Muni buses, Generation Solar (promoting residential and commercial solar installations), and the hydrogen-fuel-cell demonstration project.
