Our Mission . . .

To be a network of Wilderness advocates, educating ourselves and the public about Wilderness through outreach, outings, recruiting, lobbying, letter writing, discussions, and field work. We work for the addition to official Wilderness status of all public roadless lands, and for diligent, appropriate public management of officially designated Wilderness and of roadless wild lands that are potential Wilderness.

See Our Slideshow "Hiking With The Wilderness Committee"!

What we do . . .

Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. For 2007 and upcoming 2008 Meetings, the location will be:

San Francisco National Headquarters, 85 Second Street near the corner of Mission Street, San Francisco- near Montgomery BART/MUNI station

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

CWC Inventory - CWC needs your help to identify and protect wilderness candidates through our Golden State Wilderness Campaign. We are seeking volunteers to visit targeted parcels of state-owned land and document their wild character. All you need to get involved is a digital camera and hiking gear. CWC will provide all of the maps and everything else you will need in your official survey packet. If you're interested, contact: California Wilderness Coalition 1212 Broadway, Suite 1700 Oakland, CA 94612 Email: Info-at-Calwild.Org Telephone: 510-451-1450

Wild Committee Presentation - Ideas and/or photos needed of desirable backpacking areas to include in presentation for Boy Scouts, etc. Contact Bob McLaughlin: 510.524.7910

Wilderness Committee - We could use help updating our database. It’s not as bad as it sounds. Most of the data exists electronically- we just need to combine the files. Contact Patricia: protectwildplaces-at-yahoo.com.
