2008 Snow Camping Training Series - Application

Please review the information sheet for requirements before completing this application. Answer all questions for each applicant. Please use a separate application for each participant. Make copies of application form, as needed, for each additional person. Attach all family applications together.

Send the completed application(s) with a self-addressed, stamped envelope and check or money order (or use paypal, the instructions will be on the next page), payable to the Sierra Club Snowcamping Training Series and mail to: Snowcamping Training Series, c/o Anne Good, 1332 Portland Ave., Albany, CA 94706. Applications must be received at the latest by December 17, 2007 . For the "Early Bird" enrollment, please make sure your application with check is postmarked on or before November 26, 2007.

GROUP DATES

Please indicate which group you would like to participate in by placing a "1" by your first choice and a "2" by your second choice, etc. Every effort will be made to place you in your desired group. Remember: to participate in the first trip, you must attend the orientation day on Saturday - January 12, 2008 and to go on the second trip, you must complete the first trip. Due to weather conditions, some trips may be cancelled and rescheduled to the backup trip date. Please make your selections carefully. You must select a first and second choice. If you do not submit a second choice, you may be placed in another group.

Family Group Adults must attend the Orientation Day on January 12, 2008 , to be eligible for family trips. Orientation is for adults only (18 and over) Mandatory pack check for children's gear. Allow one hour. (to be scheduled)

Alumni snowcampers must attend Orientation Day on January 12, 2008.

STATEMENT OF PHYSICAL CONDITIONING

Please describe what you are doing for the physical conditioning activities to prepare for taking the Snow Camping Training Series. Feel free to mail in additional pages with your application if necessary.




OUTLINE OF EXPERIENCE

Please describe your backpacking experience, including all recent trips, dates, locations, length, and difficulty. If possible, refer to the grading system for knapsack and hiking sections in the front of the Chapter Schedule of Trips. List any mountaineering, snow camping, rock climbing, skiing, or leadership experience, too. Also include any special training such as first aid, rescue, or orienteering. Please include your reasons for wanting to participate in this series. Feel free to mail in additional pages with your application if necessary. For Family Group applications, rememeber to fill out a separate application for each child.
