Cross the magnificent swinging bridge to the rocky precipice that the lighthouse was constructed on. Return by Rodeo Beach along the Coastal Trail. Spectacular ocean views. East meets west upon Ridgecrest. A new attempt to reach West Ridgecrest Boulevard from the northern slopes of Mount Tamalpais. We'll take a more direct route from Lake Lagunitas to Laurel Dell; then, make an easy climb over the hills to see the ocean beyond. Return via the main ridge towards East Peak. Hiking sticks will help with the descent to Lake Lagunitas. Meet: 9 am at Fairfax Parkade (opposite Fairfax Theater). Bass Lake and Alamere Fall at South Point Reyes. Rated one of the best hikes: ocean, mountains, lakes and a waterfall. Hike in and out along coast, 2 miles to very swimmable Bass Lake. Another 2 miles past Pelican Lake and Double Point to Alamere Falls crashing to the beach. 9 miles round trip, back 5 pm-ish. Optional Bolinas dinner after hike. Bring: layers, lunch, snacks, water and sunscreen. Swimsuit? Meet: 10:30 am at Palomarin trailhead at south Point Reyes. Directions: take usually unmarked Bolinas turnoff north of Stinson Beach, turn right on Mesa Road, 4-1/2 miles to parking lot with surprisingly nice toilets.
