Bass Lake and Alamere Fall at Point Reyes. Rated one of the best hikes - ocean, mountains, lakes and a waterfall. Hike in and out along coast, 2 miles to very swimable Bass Lake. Another 2 miles past Pelican Lake and Double Point to Alamere Falls crashing to the beach. 9 miles round trip, back 5 pm-ish. Optional Bolinas dinner after hike. Bring: Layers, lunch, snacks, water and sunscreen. Swimsuit? Meet: 10:30 am at Palomarin trailhead at south Point Reyes. Directions: take usually unmarked Bolinas turnoff north of Stinson Beach, turn right on Mesa Road, 4-1/2 miles to parking lot with surprisingly nice toilets. West end of Marina Green through Presidio's Crissy Field, up at Golden Gate Bridge along coastal trail past Baker's Beach to Sea Cliff (see Robin Williams’ humble abode) and then along coastal trail to Cliff House and Beach Chalet. Six miles one way, end 4 pm-ish. Drizzle OK, rain cancels. Optional post-hike dinner/beverages. Meet: 12 noon at west end of Marina Green parking lot (near St Francis Yacht Club). Sycamore Grove. Sycamore Grove Park in Livermore contains one of the largest remaining groves of native sycamores in California. Come walk through the grove with us, learn about how they have been impacted by changes in the area and what we can do. Optional post-hike wine-tasting at local winery. Meet: 10:30 am at Wetmore Road entrance. Return to cars approximately 3:30. Directions: from Highway 580, take the Airway Boulevard exit, go south past the airport, and turn right at Kittyhawk. Take Kittyhawk to Concannon Boulevard, turn left, go about 1 mile to Holmes, and turn right on Holmes. Go to Wetmore, turn left; park entrance will be on your right. Carpooling: leader at Rockridge BART by base of steps on east side of College Avenue, 9:30 am. Cost: $3 parking fee.
