Endorsements & Recommendations for Marin
Fairfax City Council:
Bragman Win and Tremaine Win
Larry Bragman and Lew Tremaine are incumbents whom the Club has previously endorsed and who have served the
environment well in office. Fairfax has long been a leader in developing policies on the cutting edge of environmental
protection. Bragman and Tremaine have both continued that tradition in their roles on the Town Council and have each
earned a Sierra Club endorsement to be re-elected.
Novato City Council:
Carole Dillon-Knudsen Win
The Sierra Club has endorsed Carole Dillon-Knudsen twice before, and she has long been an environmental advocate for
Novato, especially as the only councilmember to vote no on the massive Bahia project. The defeat of that project to
destroy a blue-oak forest has paved the way for new environmental leaders.
Madeline Kellner Win and Annan Paterson Loss
Madeline Kellner and Annan Paterson offer the best opportunities to bring new creative environmental voices to the Novato
Council. Paterson has been a leader in the Sustainable Novato community, and Kellner is a long-time Sierra Club member
who worked with us to protect the environment in El Cerrito before moving to Novato.
San Rafael City Council:
Damon Connolly Win
Damon Connolly is a trustee of the Dixie School Board and past candidate for the Sixth Assembly District. He will work
toward acceptance of Community Choice Aggregation, further implementation of Safe Routes to Schools, community support
for infill affordable housing, and additional funding for better public transportation. He previously worked on the
California Attorney General’s Energy Task Force, which held big energy (Enron, Reliant) accountable for the price gouging
of 2001.
Greg Brockbank Win
Greg Brockbank has been a trustee of the College of Marin for 18 years, and has served on the Democratic Central
Committee of Marin for a number of years as well, most recently as its chair. He is a former board member of the
Environmental Forum of Marin. Greg led the Pesticide Free campaign for the College of Marin, and advocates intelligently
for creative solutions to the affordable-housing crisis, green building, and better public transportation.
North Marin Water District:
Dennis Rodoni Win and Steve
Petterle Win
The North Marin Water District has moved strongly in the direction of emphasizing water conservation, recycling, and
tiered rates, which are the keys to an environmental water policy. The incumbents Dennis Rodoni and Steve Petterle
deserve out support for their leadership in moving NMWD in this new direction.
