Elect Rebecca Kaplan to Oakland City Council

Club-endorsed candidate Rebecca Kaplan is in a run-off election for the at-large seat on the Oakland City Council.

Help elect this long-time dedicated environmental. Rebecca has a background as a civil-rights attorney, legislative aide, and policy advocate, and has served as an elected "at-large" director on the AC Transit Board, giving her the experience and vision to take effective action.

At AC she spearheaded solar-power projects and the launching of nation-leading alternative- and sustainable-fuel programs. The new all-night transit service she implemented covers BART routes after midnight. Combining local jobs and apprenticeship programs with "green technology", Kaplan has strengthened the connections between our economic prosperity and environmental health.

Rebecca will bring the same leadership skills to the Oakland City Council. Her plans include:

  • coordinating transportation plans to provide pedestrian and bicycle safety, parking availability, and transit access;
  • improving air quality in West Oakland, including a clean and safe Port;
  • assuring access to parks, healthy food, entertainment, and recreation;
  • improving Oakland's participation in regional-transportation, land-use, air-quality, and Bay-protection planning.

Rebecca has the vision and the skills to improve quality of life and the environment.
