Help elect Jesse Arreguin to Berkeley City Council

Jesse Arreguin is the Sierra Club's environmental candidate for City Council in central Berkeley's District 4 - a hotly contested race with well-financed big-business and Chamber of Commerce opposition. This is an unexpected emergency race to fill the unexpired term of environmental champion Dona Spring following her untimely death.
Jesse has supported Sierra Club positions on Downtown - density together with reduced parking, increased open space, housing affordability, green construction, energy conservation, transit incentives, and other ecological requirements.
Jesse has fought for affordable family housing as well as for new units for students, and was instrumental in the successful Downtown Plan coalition for green density, incentivizing dramatically reduced carbon footprints in new construction, a pedestrianized Center Street with daylighted Strawberry Creek if feasible, and greening of Downtown.
Jesse is a member of the Executive Committee of the Sierra Club's Northern Alameda County Group, and has been an effective leader in the Group's efforts for zero waste, an effective Climate Action Plan, and expanded transit.
Jesse's is a grassroots campaign, relying on volunteers to compete against a heavily financed Chamber of Commerce effort. Jesse deserves our most active support to preserve a truly independent environmental voice on City Council.
