Get Involved with a Local Group
The Bay Chapter is divided geographically into eight local groups within our four counties (see map). Each group is led by volunteer members.

Regional Groups of the San Francisco Bay Chapter
Delta Group
|
The Delta Regional Group covers eastern Contra Costa County from Bay Point to Discovery Bay. It offers regular outdoor activities, and our members work on many conservation issues, including
- Urban growth and land-use planning
- Transportation
- Toxics and solid waste
- Air and water quality.
General membership meetings with interesting programs are usually held on the third Tuesday or Wednesday of February, May, September, and November at the Antioch Library, 501 West 18th St. in Antioch. For details, see the Yodeler or our Group newsletter, available by $5 subscription from:

Marin Group

The Sierra Club Marin Group (website) consists of the approximately 4,700 Club members who live in Marin County.
Group activities include:
- Hikes and outings to visit and learn about Marin's natural beauty and resources--to Point Reyes National Seashore, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Mount Tamalpais, China Camp State Park, Tomales Bay, San Pablo Bay, and more.
- Studying and speaking out on issues that affect Marin's environment: development proposals, water supply, transportation, agriculture, parks, recreation, trails, wildlife protection, toxics, and environmental justice. We lobby city, county, and other officials on these issues.
The Executive Committee of the Marin Group consists of up to 11 elected representatives of the membership. The Group Executive and Conservation Committees meet on the second Wednesday of every month at the offices of the Marin Conservation League, 1623-A Fifth Ave. in San Rafael. The Conservation Committee meets from 6 - 7 pm, and the Executive Committee meets from 7 - 9.
Members are encouraged to participate, and to bring issues to the attention of the committees. Standing committees include Conservation, Political, and Outings.

Mount Diablo Group

The membership of the Mount Diablo Group is drawn from central Contra Costa County, from Martinez to San Ramon to Lamorinda. Activities of the group include conservation, outings, and bi-monthly programs.
The Conservation Committee studies and speaks out on the environmental concerns of the county. We invite interested residents to participate.
Outings are an excellent means of meeting other people with similar interests in our beautiful outdoor environment. Our outings include a variety of day hikes and other activities that appeal to members with a wide range of interests and abilities.
Our Executive Committee meets the fourth Wednesday of odd months at 7 pm. Members and guests are always invited. Check with one of the officers to confirm time and location.
General membership meetings are usually held the second Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November at 7:30 pm at the Clayton Community Library (Hoyer Hall), 6125 Clayton Road in Clayton.
Northern Alameda County Group

The Northern Alameda County (NAC) Group (website) considers urban environmental issues in the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, Alameda, Piedmont, and San Leandro. These issues can include housing, transportation, air quality, environmental justice, and natural-resource protection.
NAC's Conservation Committee meets at 7 pm on the fourth Monday of every month at the Chapter Office (wheelchair-accessible), 2530 San Pablo Ave. in west Berkeley. For directions and bus information, see About the Bay Chapter. Minutes are posted here.
NAC's nine-member Executive Committee convenes at the same place once the Conservation Committee has adjourned (usually by 8:45 pm) to consider conservation actions, political endorsements, and recommendations to higher-level Club entities.

San Francisco Group
Join the other 7,000 members of the San Francisco Group in outings, social events, and conservation activities. San Francisco conservation priorities include
- Preservation of Golden Gate Park
- Reduction and clean-up of toxics
- Transit improvements
- Acquisition and protection of open space
- Recycling and resource conservation
- Sustainable job development
- Wetlands restoration and protection
- Water conservation, treatment, and planning

Southern Alameda County Group

The Southern Alameda Group is getting ready to start an outings program, and our members work on many conservation issues, including hillside and wetlands protection, transportation, and recycling.
