"Global Warming - It's Arrived and We're Starting to Respond"
Tuesday, September 16, 7:15 pm, Antioch Library, 501 West 18th Street, Antioch.
The reality of global warming is no longer subject to serious debate. The interesting questions are how the world will respond. Human health and safety are being threatened worldwide by extreme weather patterns, such as rising temperatures, heavy precipitation, severe storms, floods, heat waves, hurricanes, wildfires, and droughts.
Our speaker tonight, Martinez resident Paul Craig, is a member of the Sierra Club's National Global Warming and Energy Committee, and on the board of the Sierra Club Foundation. Paul will summarize the scientific evidence on global warming, but will mostly focus on responses and how our society is changing. He will discuss some exciting new technologies, and describe what's happening now in California, which leads the world in responding to global warming. In addition, Paul will discuss current goals of the Sierra Club now that climate recovery is our top priority. Join us tonight to learn how to become part of the solution process.
Before the program, we'll briefly discuss current local environmental issues, and information about upcoming activities and events will be available. A Group newsletter is available by sending a check for $5 payable to "Sierra Club, Delta Group" to:
