Whitewater rafting with Inner City Outings
Saturday - Sunday, September 20 - 21.
Experience the delights of whitewater rafting in a beautiful river canyon, while supporting the Sierra Club's Inner City Outings. ICO is offering two whitewater trips to raise money in support of its rafting program for youth and adults who have limited access to this wilderness experience.
In partnership with commercial outfitter All Outdoors, ICO invites you to enjoy a guided trip down the South Fork or the Middle Fork of the American River. Guests on the South Fork trip will explore a class III river rich with history and exciting whitewater. Those opting for a Middle Fork trip will tackle more-challenging class IV rapids in a rugged wilderness etched by early gold mining. Make a weekend of it and sign up for both!
All donations will support ICO outreach activities.
Space is limited. For further details and registration, e-mail fundraiser -at- icorafting.org
Inner City Outings is an all-volunteer outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides wilderness experiences for groups of youths and adults from urban communities that have little or no access to nature due to lack of income, awareness, or skills. This summer the ICO rafting guides will share the experience of whitewater rafting on California rivers with over 250 participants from 17 local groups. These rafting trips offer a chance for ICO volunteers to share their joy of the river with its unique environment and natural history on outings that offer a special outdoor experience that can change people's lives. Through such encounters, the volunteers of ICO hope to grow our alliances with new advocates for river preservation and environmental equity.
