East Bay Dinner: "Adventuring and Hiking in Patagonia - Part II"
Thursday, September 25, no-host cocktails/social hour - 6:00 pm, dinner - 7:00, program - 8:00, Berkeley Yacht Club on the Berkeley Marina, one block north of the west end of University Avenue (ample free parking is available in the Marina parking lots).
Join David Moyer for a new slide presentation on Patagonia. Since he last gave us a presentation on Patagonia six years ago, he's been there again, and he'll show new mountains, new photos, new adventures.
He'll take us first to Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina, at the edge of the Patagonian ice cap and the site of two of the world's most spectacular mountains, Fitzroy and Cerro Torre. Next we'll travel to Torres del Paine in Chile with its herds of guanacos and soaring condors.
David, a former U.S. Navy Medical Corps captain and flight surgeon, is now chief of allergy at the Oakland and Richmond Kaiser Hospitals. He spends as much time as possible on the trail hiking and backpacking, and has also given East Bay Dinner slide shows on Antarctica, Peru, and Norway.
David was a leader of an Orinda Hiking Club trip to Tasmania, Australia, where the group hiked over 100 miles all around the island, including six days "hut-to-hut" on the famous Overland Track in the island's interior mountains. David has led many other trips and has traveled widely.
