National Club election coming this spring

In March all Club members should receive in the mail ballots for the annual election of the Sierra Club's Board of Directors. The mailing will include information on the candidates.

As a democratically structured organization at all levels, the Club requires the regular flow of views on policy and priorities from its grassroots membership. Your Board of Directors and chapter and group Executive Committees are required to stand for election by the membership, and your participation in elections is a major membership obligation. The Board sets Club policy and budgets at the national level and works closely with the staff to operate the Club.

To learn more about the candidates, ask questions of your group and chapter leadership and other experienced members you know. Also visit the Club's election web site

. This site provides links to additional information about candidates, and their views on a variety of issues facing the Club and the environment.

Take several minutes to read the ballot statement of each candidate, and use your own judgment to cast your votes. The ballot is quite straightforward, and it includes a user-friendly Internet voting option, which a growing number of members find very convenient.
