Outings-leader training workshopFriday - Sunday, June 9 - 11, Clair Tappaan Lodge, Norden, CA (near Donner Summit); check-in begins Friday at 4pm, dinner at 6, opening program at 7:30; ends Sunday with lunch and raffle at noon. Come to an interactive and educational workshop for Sierra Club outings leaders and folks who want to become one. This training is to provide leaders with leadership and group-management skills for both short outings (day hikes) and longer, more remote outings. Leader training is a never-ending process; whether you're an old hand or have never led before, you're invited for a weekend of interactive learning, networking with leaders from all the Club's outing programs, and of course, lots of fun. This training is brought to you by the Club's Outdoor Activities Training Program, managed in the Outings Department of the national office. The agenda includes interactive modules on trip planning, group management, interpersonal leadership skills, emergency response, and much more. There will be both large- and small-group formats. Sessions will also include teamwork and scenario-based role plays. The trainers, both volunteer and staff, speak from a wealth of personal trip-leading experience. This workshop will fulfill both the Outings Leader Training 101 and 201 requirements. Cost is $45 (including food, lodging [bunk style], materials, raffle entry, and Outings t-shirt). Limited to 50 people, first come, first served. To register, contact:
