San Francisco Dinner: "Fascinating Korea"

Thursday, April 20, social hour 6 pm, dinner 7, show 8 - City Forest Lodge, 254 Laguna Honda Boulevard, San Francisco (across from Laguna Honda Hospital and downhill from Forest Hill Station; take Muni's K, L, M, or 43). Come early for street parking (no sidewalk parking please).

Join Al and Marie Greening on a fascinating tour of Korea. The Greenings lived in South Korea for two years and traveled to all parts of the small country. From crowded Seoul they made their way to peaceful thousand-year-old temples in the mountains, and they visited Pukhansan National Park, a miniature Yosemite just outside of Seoul. They explored Kyongju, the ancient capital; scenic Soraksan National Park on the east coast; Cheju, an island off the south coast, which is Korea's Hawaii; and Panmunjon in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), where the armistice agreement ending the Korean war was signed in 1953.

No peace agreement has been reached to this day. The battle was stopped and the 4,000-meter-wide DMZ separating North and South Korea was created where the war's front line had been.

Reservations are required (no attendance for program only). Mail check for $13.50 made out to "Sierra Club, S.F. Bay Chapter" to Barb Bourns at:
