Our Keynote Speaker was
independent journalist and author, Mark
Hertsgaard shared his insights on current environmental and
political considerations. He has written five books including the
recently released
The Eagle's Shadow: Why America
Fascinates and Infuriates the World.
His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Time,
Newsweek, Vanity Fair, Harper's, The New York Times, The Washington
Post, Salon, The Nation, Die Zeit, Der Spiegel, The Guardian, Le nouvel
observateur, La Repubblica, Yomiuri Shimbum, Ha'aretz and many other
publications at home and abroad. A frequent contributor to National
Public Radio, he also hosts a weekly investigative news show for the
national satellite network, Worldlink TV. He has taught non-fiction
writing at Johns Hopkins and the University of California at
Berkeley School of Journalism. He lives in San Francisco.
